WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE A PART OF ‘THE AWAKENING’?
Anyone can participate! We just ask that you come with open hearts and minds to serve.
DO WE HAVE TO VOLUNTEER THE ENTIRE WEEK?
Our hope is that you would volunteer the entire week, July 31st - August 5th. If you are unable to commit the entire week, please reach out to your local team leader for day-specific volunteer opportunities and training schedules.
DO WE GET TO CHOOSE WHAT COMMUNITY PROJECT WE WILL BE SERVING IN?
Where you would like to serve, your skills and talents, and the community needs will determine where you will serve that week in the city that you choose to participate.
WHAT TYPE OF COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS WILL WE PARTICIPATE IN?
Homeless Shelter ministry
Nursing home visitation
Minor home & church repairs
Human trafficking awareness
Fun Day for an Orphanage
Each city will have a finale community event on Saturday
DO WE SERVE IN THE SAME PROJECT ALL WEEK?
This will be based on the needs in the area. Some areas may decide to serve in one city for a couple of days and then move to another city within that state for the remainder of the week.
DO WE HAVE ANY TIME OFF?
Each day will be filled with training and serving. During the evenings you will come together to finalize and prepare for your finale event. You are welcome to enjoy time with the other participants in designated ‘gathering’ locations as to not disturb those who like to turn in early (see the attached Sample Daily schedule).

You will receive training every morning in Leadership development, Christian topics, and preparation for practical community engagement. There will be site specific training and communications leading up to the event.
HOW ARE FOOD AND LODGING HANDLED?
You will be staying at a church or school in the community that you are serving. With city missions trip, it’s typical to stay in a fellowship hall using air mattresses and cots. There will be various fund raising efforts by the entire group to prevent any out of pocket expenses that week.
WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORTATION?
You are responsible for getting to The Awakening host site and from there at the end of the week. All transportation during the week to the various project locations and to where you will be lodging is on us.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN FUNDRAISING?
The cost to provide accommodations for volunteers and make an impact on the communities we are hosting in will cost roughly $400/person. Instead of asking volunteers to contribute personally, we are asking that each participant raise $200, and the remainder will be obtained from organizational sponsorships. Don’t panic! We will provide you with the fundraising materials.
Cost include: food, lodging, transportation to and from community service projects, training materials and supplies for the community projects.
Our biggest fundraiser will be our Walk-A-thon that is being held in all 12 cities on 4/29/16.
